Barcelona-bred prodigy Andrea Motis returns to SJW to share her astonishing trumpet and vocal talent\, accompanied by her own band\, which includes the founder of the famed Sant Andreu Jazz Band\, Joan Chamorro. Joining Andrea is one of the world’s greatest trombonists\, Wycliffe Gordon\, who first played with her in Barcelona. Andrea’s sound is nothing short of exquisite\, and her fresh interpretations of standards bring comparisons to her inspirations\, Chet Baker and Louis Armstrong. In addition to her Barcelona quintet\, Andrea is joined for this special performance by the SJW 50/50 Jazz Orchestra\, a new ensemble dedicating to establishing gender equality in jazz\, and made up of women and men who are among the top artists in the Bay Area.
