SUMMARY:LMR jazz orchestra with Tom Scott
DESCRIPTION:The 10th annual concert will feature the LMR Jazz Orchestra performing the World Premiere of Napa Valley Suite\, a new work composed by multiple GRAMMY© Award winner\, Tom Scott. \nThe movements of this exciting new composition celebrate the seasonal cycle of grape growing. And\, the suite’s engaging melodies capture the distinctive blended culture of the Napa Valley community – the men and women who grow our grapes and make great wine in our renowned valley. \nThe outstanding LMR Jazz Orchestra will perform Tom’s new work in anticipation of its second major recording\, following the artistic success of Miss Iubileum Aurem (Golden Jubilee Jazz Mass) in 2022.  \nTom Scott is a renowned composer\, arranger\, producer\, music director\, saxophonist\, and educator. His 33 solo recordings have earned him 13 GRAMMY© nominations and 3 GRAMMY© awards. During the concert\, Tom will conduct the jazz orchestra and also perform as a featured soloist on selections from his distinguished discography. The concert will also feature special guest\, Lilan Kane. View the complete line-up here. \nThis concert benefits the Timothy Hall Foundation which is dedicated to supporting innovative\, cost-effective K-12 school programs in arts and sciences\, including school gardens\, animal husbandry projects\, and music curriculum.

SUMMARY:Ledisi sings Nina\, SFJAZZ at Davies Symphony Hall
DESCRIPTION:The world knows Ledisi as an R&B star who earned a dozen GRAMMY Award nominations before taking home her first trophy in 2021 for her song “Anything For You.” But Bay Area audiences first got to know the New Orleans native during her formative years in Oakland when she was stretching her wings as an ostentatiously gifted jazz singer. For this exclusive night\, she returns to SFJAZZ with her sparkling tribute to the High Priestess of Soul\, Nina Simone\, backed by a full orchestra — a salute captured on her GRAMMY-nominated 2021 Listen Back album Ledisi Sings Nina\, recorded in collaboration with the Metropole Orkest\, and broadcast as a special on PBS.
